Mani, an ambitious lawyer in her 30s, rushes back to her remote Indigenous community in Northern Quebec. To help emancipate her community from outdated paternalistic binding, Mani proposes a referendum to release the prohibition of alcohol on the reserve. This upsets the comfort of Laura, a 45-year-old bootlegger who’s been smuggling illegal alcohol into the community. The two women, each in their own way, experience the vertiginous experience of taking charge of their respective destinies.
